mylo75 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Hi all, I face a quite annoying problem with users that just have registered. And after looking in depth in the posts, I did not see any clue to solve my issue: I use VAT with all my products, and the VAT is displayed normally in any case except in one case: users that register (so that log in for the first time) see prices displayed without VAT, ie beginning from the create_account_success page. On all screens except on the checkout_confimation where the prices are dipslayed correctly with VAT. Once log off, the prices appear correctly as well as the next times the user log in. Did someone ever face this kind of issue and fix it? Thanks a lot in advance for the community help.
♥Vger Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 If your site charges VAT then you should display it. Why would you not want to display it until the end for only the first time someone logs in? You may do so thinking that displaying the vat discourages people from buying. In my opinion, and if I was a first time customer, I would count not displaying the VAT until the end as being sneaky and not proceed to buy. I should qualify that by saying that it is quite okay not to display vat provided you make sure that your site says that the price excludes vat. Vger
mylo75 Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 From what I understand in your answer, it seems that not to display VAT at the first login is the normal behaviour of osCommerce. I use VAT for all prices and I have a single rate since I only sell in a unique country. I my opinion, this is more logical to display prices with VAT since this is what the customer will pay. People that browse my site, are interested by a product and willing to buy it may be confused after logging in and seeing prices displayed without VAT and thinking this is the right price, isn'it? So it would be helpful for me that the customer see the the price WITH VAT at any stage of the buying process.

I have been setting up a site since December, and all of a sudden prices seem to lose VAT when customer logs in. the site is set to show prices inclusive of VAT, but when you login and try to purchase the customer is not charged/shown VAT. not good at all :o) I think it may be something to do with zones, I'm sure this was working fine a couple of weeks ago.
