When I fill in the webserver info, it says I have successfully connected to the database, then when I get to step 2, the webserver root directory is already filled in.....

Any idea's on where I'm going wrong here??

Just a simple search on google gives this:

Warning: mysql_select_db(): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

this seems to be a firewall issue or something similar where the requierd port to connect to database is not open

this would be something that you might wanna discuss with your host

Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource

Generally, there are two possible causes for this error. MySQL is down or it has run out of database connections. If it is the former, there is little you can do about it apart from contact your Host/server admin.

thisis indeed a mysql problem and not oscommerce.

Unfortunately I'm spending the holidays in Prince Albert Saskatchewan....-30 to -40.... :'(

Do you do freelance work of this nature by chance?

I was hoping osCommerce would be a simple "out of the box" solution to online sales for me...but looking at the manual kind of freaks me out a bit

damn that's cold

yes as a matter of fact this kinda part of what I do for living. you know in IT you gotta do everything and be good at it to get decent jobs in Toronto. there's far too many competition in this city.

oscommerce is a great script but surely to think it would be something you can use out of the box in a live store is a little asking too much from it. however its functionality and layout design can be fully customized. pm me if you like to talk more about this.

cheers
