Tiny*Tofu*Monster Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hey Guys whats up? I have everything installed and set up. I m just trying to figure out how this thing works. Is everything code edited or is there some type of wizard thing you can use to be "drag and drop"? Also how does the default inactive store become active? does the entire thing need to be deleted or can I just edit my stuff in and replace it all? any help would be great cause I am lost.

Take your time to get used to it. Have a good look at admin. It is mostly intuitive. Adding products and general settings are in admin. Since you are just starting, read the forums frequently.
kdr22 Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I am a bit lost myself and am wondering where I can find the documentation for 2.2 - as the v3 docs are of absolutely no help. I have looked at them and things have changed so much they are of no help with 2.2. For example, how/where do I edit the default text on the main catalog page? Another example, a box I want to remove on the left side cannot be removed per the v3 docs, as the code is different (it even says that it is version 1.5). It is late and I am tired, so I apologize if I sound a bit gnarly. But I am under the gun here as I am building this site for a client and this is my first time at bat building a business site and using osCommerce. I usually build personal sites and informational sites, so I am somewhat used to Open Source CMS programs that lack good documentation, but this is an ecommerce program - I can't afford to not have good documentation to guide me if I am to build a good and stable site. Agreed? :sweating:
satish Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 USE RC1. Download it and in the download you will find a PDF document. it has most of the things. Satish Ask/Skype for Free osCommerce value addon/SEO suggestion tips for your site. Check My About US For who am I and what My company does.

kdr22 Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Why are you installing 2.2 when RC1 is available? If I was doing a fresh start, I would use RC1. I use WestHost for my hosting. They offer osCommerce and Miva Merchant, and recommended that I use osCommerce. V2.2 is the version they have and install. I suppose I could unistall it and download and install RC1, but my question is, why would I use a Release Candidate? Does not the very name indicate that it is not ready to be used on a production site?
Guest Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 why would I use a Release Candidate? Does not the very name indicate that it is not ready to be used on a production site? Probably, but it is the most recent release and is a stable release.
kdr22 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who redirected me to the RC1. MUCH BETTER! Now I am wondering why a banner I added will not show up. I made the group 468x60 (as opposed to the 468x50 default). What do I need to do to get this banner to show up at the bottom of the page like the osCommerce banner? What am I overlooking? Thanks again! :D
