How to get SEARCH RESULTS only for own AJAX search function

Hi there,

 

first of all I am totally new to oscommerce. So please forgive me possible ignorance. ;)

I developed, for an existing shop, an AJAX search function as shown in the image below. While typing, results will appear in the box. When hitting the enter button the form will be submitted and uses the advanced_search_result.php?keywords=whatever.

So since I am not a mysql heavy weight champion I'd like to use the already existing SQL search function for my AJAX search as well. Does anybody know how to extract the results only? When I use advanced_search_result.php?keywords=whatever my request returns a complete website.
