Quantity in shopping cart is 00 not 0

Hello: At some point, probably during some template modification or such, the site is showing a quantity of 00 in the shopping cart, not just 0.

 

If an item is added to the cart it shows as 10 not 1. If 100 items are in the cart it show as 1000 not 100.

 

Where can I begin to look and figure out how to fix this extra 0?

Some additional information... it appears that we changed templates. The original template was in version 2.2ms2, the new template seems to be designed for 2.2rc1. That's the only difference I can see. If I do a new install of 2.2rc1 with the template all is ok. However, if I try to update the old 2.2ms2 verstion with the new optimized 2.2rc1 template then the problem with the digits occurs.

 

Any help or ideas are appreciated.
