Thumbnail problems

Hi,

Ok now I know that this is an old issue but im coming across a lot of posts from 2006 and im wondering where things sit now for 2007 with this issue.

I have been reading a lot of the forum topics and it seems everyone should have an image contribution installed! Im getting a bit confused as to which direction to head with a fix.

I would love to know what people who have used these types of contributions have to say about them and which is the best (and which download they used - I'm getting lost in the contributions page with bug fixes etc etc and have no idea which is the full download).

Two issues

1) I would really like to have a crisp clear thumbnails - they are currently horribly pixelated

2) I want my pop up windows to display the full enlarged image

Im uploading large jpg images (that stick to the thumbnail ratio of 100 x 80 - eg 600 x 480)

Thanks!

Hey Delia,

I am using the big_images 1.25 contribution by Jan Skopek dated 17 Aug 2003 and it works great, at least with 2.2 MS2. I "think" it should work with RC1 but not positive, anyway...

How it works is simple, you create two images, a thumbnail and a large image. The thumbnail image size is defined in your Admin Panel and the large image is whatever you make it.

If you're interested in seeing an example take a peek at my work in progress site - Hande's Hobbies.

I took it one step further though. Instead of the larger image popping up I inserted it into the product_info page, so no more links to click for a larger image. But you'll get the ideal.

The installation of the contribution was rather simple and went smooth, no glitches or fixed needed. ;)

Hope that helps a little. :)

as far as the 'full' image', I used the simple script that someone posted a few months back, you will have to do a search.

It's very simple, just add a tiny piece of code a few characters in length and it will make an even amount of space around your image top/bottom left/right. Whatever proportion and whatever size images you have, it will just make the popup image even around all its edges. It's simple, just find the file, look for the code part and add the little extra code and you are done.

Sorry can't search for the post for you, I'm at work at break. You won't be disappointed if you use it, it worked great for me.

man of a reformed faith.
