smbrayton Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Ok, Hi all, been awhile but i have a very serious question. I am looking into building my own site. Have used os before but want so help and see if what i want to do can be done. I currently have a web site with amazon: www.licenseplatesandmore and want to make a stand alone site for this business. I want to make the site like the one i have, so i need to remove the right side columns that come with the os site. Also i want to use the one page checkout and the no account needed. Also i am looking to have a retail price and a drop shipping price, so will need to be able to have a customer log in to get the differant price for drop shipping. And one last thing i need the shipping to be able to use USPS both in the us and international. Now i know the cre will allow some of this but it is so hard to work with cre and i would rather use OS. Should i just pay someone to do this or can this be done. I do know some HTML and understand the os workings but i believe this might be a bit much for me. Any help or suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you Scott
♥geoffreywalton Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Scott With 115 post I suspect you should be familiar with osCommerce. So instaling contributions should be a snip for you. Just make sure you backup between installations and test everything between installations. Most contributions have very good installation instructions and as you install more you will be surprised how easy it is. Just depends how much you value your time. Time is not the issue, and yes i have been here, adding contributions is not the issue either. My question was that the items i want to do I was unable to do before and gave up. So before I start this project I wanted to know if what i desire is possible or if I should just pay someone to do it. Also wanted to know if Cre would be better than OS for this type of site. i want to make it like the one I have now, but that is an amaozn site and it is limited and you have to play be Amazon's rules. Thank you for your time. Scott
digilee Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Taking a quick look around your site I can't see anything you couldn't do using OSC with a bit of tweaking/ contributions etc. SolarFrenzy Solar powered gadgets at down to earth prices. CheekyNaughty Promoting British Design

With everything that i want to do is OS or CRe better, Any thoughts on this. Scott
spax Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Removing the right column is easy, there is Purchase Without Account and Fast Easy Checkout mods (I've not used either so don't know how good they), SPPC for different prices for your drop shippers and so long as USPS ship internationally, which obviously they do, I don't see why you can't use that with osC. All in all, I think osC can do all you require. It should only take you a day to install that little lot and make the page look how you want so no harm done if it doesn't work out for you.

The biggest problem was with the usps shipping, i could not get it to work before. I think i will give it a try and see if i can do better than last time i tried. I tried the Cre, but it was really confuseing, but it was really versital in the fact that all the contributions are all installed. We shall see. Scott
