jwessa1 Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Hi All, I want to get rid of the OSCommerce I have installed on my server. I have it installed Via Fantastico and Cpanel. I have tried uninstalling through the Fantistico panel and it does NOTHING! It will not remove the existing installation of OSC. Is there a reference to remove it by hand or another program I can try removing it with? Please don't refer me to PHPMYADMIN since I know nothing about it, it would just be another setback Apparently on my server they have installed, configured and renamed files and modules and I have no catalog folder, I cannot create a new account, none of the information here is useful since half of it is based on the Catalog folder which doesn't exist. I have tried to fix the errors with help here nothing has worked! After two weeks of fighting with it I'm done wasting my time. I just want to see if I can reinstall and solve some of the errors the easy way. My store has as yet to go live or even get products in it. So I'm only loosing a little design time. I can live with that. I wasn't having any of these problems until Buy Safe was installed by my server. (Crammed down my throat is more like it.) I just want to get rid of it since it is obviously flawed to the point I won't even waste my time or yours trying to figure out the Errors. Need help to start over! Thanks Jim Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much - Friendship Is The Wine Of Life
spax Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 No need to give the actual domain name but how do you view your site? I mean is it www.your_site.com or is it something like www.your_site.com/directory? I suspect it is in a directory, being Fantastico, so look in there with FTP and you should find the osC files and directories. You should be ok to delete that directory. If you do that, it would be best to go into phpmyadmin after and empty the database. If you want help with that, let me know.

Thanks Jim Just delete the files and database. The database is deleted via phpmyadmin. To install from scratch: Follow the instructions that are pinned at the top of the installation and configuration forum. It is much easier second time around. Whie you are at it, why not get wamp or xamp, install that on your pc, then install osc under them and use that for your development server.
jwessa1 Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Hi All, thanks for the advice and Encouragement! I ended up deleting each File individually ( Yech! ) I had to check each one to see if it belonged to OSC. What a pain! Fantistico is supposed to be able to uninstall it, but wouldn't work so it must have been really badly messed up. So This thread has been solved even though it was a pain in the keister! I'll have other questions soon I'm sure. Thanks again! jim Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much - Friendship Is The Wine Of Life
