mouschi Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I am hosting a number of websites that are running various versions of oscommerce. Many have lots of custom work done to them over the past 3 years or so. My hosting company mentioned they will be killing off php4 tomorrow morning and move to php5. What should I look out for? Anything? How much trouble could I be in?
digipete Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Wow, this issue is going around lately. I've already know of two examples of people who had to deal with OSC after a server upgrade to PHP5. What basically happens is your site spits out code errors when you perform a search, or click on one of the categories. My advice for you is download this contribution, become familiar with it and have it ready when the changeover occurs. Alls it is, is two files to drop in and replace your index.php and advanced_search_results.php files. Supposedly this fixes it. http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/4654 There shoud be a "sticky" post about this somewhere. As I said, it appears to be going around. Pete
mouschi Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 thank you! is there anything else I should know, or is this it?
digipete Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Well, to be honest, that's the $64 question. As far as I know, you're good to go with just the contrib. I'd like to hear a follow up once it's happened. Even if you didn't end up having to do anything. Again, good luck. Pete
