starN Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Hello. So here's the deal. I recently took over a internet position that someone else had setup and worked on. No one know's anything about the site except for some passwords and how to complete the purchases. Can someone give me some help on understanding where (what files/modules) I need to edit in order to make my changes? The site is www.starnursery.com. I need to change out the section at the bottom that says Green Pages to something else, but I can't find where to edit them. When I open the index.php file it just shows some icons that I say bottom left section and bottom right section. Any help, would really help me out a lot. Thanks!!!
digilee Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Depends entirley on what you need/ want to edit etc. I propose you take a good look around the forums for specific answers/ questions but mainly read the documentation. starN Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 I'm looking into reading the docs already. But thanks. @babygurgles: As far as saying that it's a butchered one, I'm guessing you mean that in a bad way. I've been looking at the different contributions, but I'm worried that applying any of them might mess up the site. Not to mention that fact that I'm still pretty new at using the osC setup. Is there anything in the source that you can see that would tell me how to switch out that bottom section to have a different image and new copy? I can't find where I edit that specific portion??
clustersolutions Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Man, it sounds like you do have a steep learning curve ahead. I would clone the install and get familiar with where files are located first. Also, check to see if there is already a dev instance. Back to you question, I would look into the body of index.php--between the left and right columns--and, if not, look into the index.php file located in includes/language/english. Good luck! I said yes for a similar project last Saturday, and it seems that I have a butchered one to look for, and to revitalize :-" And w./out any previous experience of osCOmmerce or PHP :'( , only in html and css. Just been shuffling through the database, and cannot seem to find a general backup-file of the whole butchered site? Where in the admin cp should I look for, if I cannot ask it from the host server people before the 1st of Jan 2008? Thanks in advance, Nic
