What do I put as the products url

When I go to add a new product I'm asked to specify the product url. I have tried various thing but I have no idea what to put here and evey time i put something in it gives me a 404 error.

but what if there not already, do I need to create pages for each product because i've got around 200.

I was assumming that the product pages would be created dynamically with the use of php and mysql. The links are created when i add a product, but when the links are clicked the pages they are pointing to don't exist.

Then you have not added your categories and products correctly.

You can check this:

 

Login to your admin.

 

Click on Configuration

 

On that page, set "Use Search-Engine Safe URLs (still in development)" to false.

 

Save it.

 

If you have that turned on (true), it will cause page link problems.

The "Product URL" box is if you want to link the product you are listing to an external site, usually the manufacturer's product description page.

It is not a required element for your listing.
