Deleted all products, categories, specials

One of our employees was deleting a product we no longer carry.

After confirmation, all products/categories were gone.

I checked the DB and tables: categories, categories_descriptions, products, products_descriptions, products_to_categories, reviews, reviews_descriptions were empty.

We did not do daily backups and lost quite a lot of work.

Does anyone know what might have happened?

Thank you.

Sounds like a hack attempt to me.

Deleting a Product would not delete the entire database.

Before you do anything drastic, like jumping back a few days ago backup wise, make 100% sure your database has vanished.

Goto the site, there will be no products/categories/anything listed at all if the database has been wiped.

If you have a tracker (Analytics), find out as much details as you can from todays visitors/customers... IE IP Addresses. This, although may not help now, may help prevent problems in the future.

If you can find a solution to what caused or who caused it, in this case prevention is the only option once attacked.

I would check to make sure with your employee 100% that they didny do anything untoward, which is probably not possible if they do not have access to the database itself anyways... (Not linked through OSCommerce Admin directly).

Check the PHPMyAdmin for anything thats salvagable in case your orders are still available etc.

I would be very thorogh before restoring a backup on a live site.

Thank you.

Not the entire DB was wiped. Just the tables I mentioned. And I am the only person with access to DB admin.

I also forgot to say that images for the products deleted are also gone.

Any ideas?
