Can a Password be added

I have just taken over a site for someone that is having issues about hacking, I am not yet up up to date on php. What can I do to try to stop it.

If you are concerend about someone have access since they have the login, you will need to change the admin, control panel and ftp paswords, and maybe the database login. They can call be changed, most likely, from your hosts control panel. You should contact your host and ask how to do that.
