willieb Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I have ftp all files for an oscommerce template to an existing website. I need to create a database, mysql I presume, to make the store work. How do I create a database? can it be done by adding a PHP script? I am totally lost as how to create the database as I only have ftp acess to the website. I would be grateful if anyone could help me in making the oscommerce php scripts, uploaded by ftp, to work All the files are uploaded to http://www.perfectwedding.ie/store Please help.

You should ask the people that sold you the template.

Most web hosting companies offer a control panel that assists the user in maintaining their web site. In the control panel, you should find some outlet to allow you to create a database and a username and password for that database. The database will be blank until you populate it (the osc installation will do this part for you). Your web host may also offer a utility called phpmyadmin that will allow you to do anything you want with your databases such as backup, restore, etc. Contact your web host for the exact details.
