Testing Paypal Payments

Hi all, I'm a first time poster so I hope this isn't a repeated problem I could have found the answer to by searching. I tried believe me.

 

Anyway, I have set up my Paypal business account, and I have installed the PayPal module but when I tried to purchase something from myself using my credit card the order when through and everyting seemed great but when I checked my Paypal account there was no money and no transaction. What happened? Isn't the customer supposed to be sent to some Paypal window or something? Am I required to set up and Website Pay Standard or something like that?

 

I thought I read somewhere that there was some sort of Test Mode Toggle in OSC is that thing on something.

 

I need to get this thing up for xmas.

If your using the PayPal Sandbox for testing there will be no transactions showing on your PayPal account. I would also suggest you upgrade to a PayPal Business Account and use the PayPal IPN on the osCommerce side.

Thanks for the reply but I am using a Paypal Business Account, and can some one direct me to install instructions for the PayPal IPN contribution? I have downloaded it but it doesn't tell me where to put it. I have FTP open and ready to go but it isn't obvious where to put it. Payment Modules has all single php files in it.

 

btw. I was using sandbox but I created a real business acct and changed the the info in OSC already.

When you log into Paypal website, it asks for an email address and a password. In OSCommerce if you enter in the same email address in the Paypal section, it will log into paypal as the receiver (without a password), and you log in as the payer unde rthe same account, Paypal will let you know that it won't work because you cant send money to yourself. Therefore, since you paid "someone", then it isn't setup properly.

 

As for IPN, I could be wrong, but I think that Paypal only lets you setup ONE IPN, so if you have multiple stores, it wont work properly without multiple paypal accounts. By contrast, with normal Paypal, if you add extra emails to your main account, you can then have [email protected] and [email protected] under the same Paypal account. The reason to do it this way instead of different Paypal accounts is because they only allow a bank account number (for deposits) to be added only once to their systems. Multiple Paypal accounts would need multiple deposit bank accounts. Again, i could be wrong, but I remember bumping into this issue before.

Currently the default one that comes with OSC as installed by the script from SiteGround. I have downloaded the latest one that everyone else seems to be using but there are no install instructions. I haven't had time wade through the other files to find the install instructions.

Att...in your admin under modules>>payment , make sure that the cc module is NOT enabled.

 

Only have the paypal module enabled.
