digi Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Hello everyone I currently have my osc hosted with my hosting company, but I want to setup my own server so that I can have FULL access and control to my shop, but I have a dilemma, Before I start adding 5000+ items to my store, (or before I install osc for that matter) What operating system do you guys suggest me using? or which one shouldn't I use? Windows 2000 Server Advanced, (winBOX) or Mac OS X Server (Built on Unix). Thank you DIGI *Outlined in chalk everone looks the same* Currently useing OSC 2.2 MS1 running on Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) mod_jk/1.2.0 mod_perl/1.26 PHP/4.3.3 FrontPage/5.0.2 mod_ssl/2.8.12 OpenSSL/0.9.6b
rseigel Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 If those were the only choices I has I think I'd shut the 'puter off for good. :D
dahammer2 Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Any reason you can't just use a unix variety? if not I'd go for win2k adv server...
pepe Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Hello. I would go with Mac OS X, since its pure un*x. But do you need the Server version?? If you just want to use OSC I would say you could use the normar version instead. Pepe Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot at them?
digi Posted December 2, 2002 Author Posted December 2, 2002 thx, pepe I did alot of research, and I have decieded to use MAC OSX SERVER (unix base) to use for my oscommerce store/website, I have more knowledge useing a mac than a PC anyways, (mac's rule :) ) digi *Outlined in chalk everone looks the same* Currently useing OSC 2.2 MS1 running on Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) mod_jk/1.2.0 mod_perl/1.26 PHP/4.3.3 FrontPage/5.0.2 mod_ssl/2.8.12 OpenSSL/0.9.6b
