DejaVu Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I've had customers complaining that the Shipping is a hidden charge. Although my shipping cost is only £3.95 per order, I've had emails complaining that they think that should be in the shopping cart once items have been added to it. Rather than 'surprise' them with it at the checkout process I'd rather warn them beforehand. Is this possible?

Or add it as text to your index.php so they can see it upon entry? It seems a bit odd as most shoppers on line now expect to have to pay postage, and i think that this in no way is misleading to them, unless they vie your shipping costs as being too high of course. Such as I am trying to find out how to add the P&P information in the shopping_cart. That way the customer can see what the whole order would cost whether they were logged in or new. I might start a new thread unless anyone might know this answer & post here. Would this help your situation too? I have lots of info on my site, but you still get asked questions & it all helps the customers. Julie
♥geoffreywalton Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I would tend to agree that people expect to pay shipping unless the site is plastered with "Free Shipping". The shipping cost depends on the carrier and wt/qty depending on the contribution installed. So if the site had 3 carriers/options which cost would you want displayed? Normally I would expect the customer to want the cheapest, but as they add more items and the weight/qty increases the charge will increase and the carrier may have to change. This might result in a large jump in the charges. Would this put them off buying? All factors to consider. DejaVu Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 Ultimately, what I want is to find away to display the shipping in the cart as standard because my shipping charge is only £3.95 total. Regardless of where it's going to or weight. This is done by UK Royal Mail Recorded delivery. I also want to install the PWA Contribution (Pay Without Account) so customers do not have to register their details twice (Once on my site and again with PayPal). What I figure is that I end up with the details from the customer through PayPal anyway, so cant see the point of asking customers to spend longer on my site than they need to to fill out forms, that, to be honest. in my store and the nature of the products, they probably wouldnt want to leave their personal details and puts them off purchasing.
