Amend Product Description when added to cart

Hi,

 

im trying to setup a store to sell photos printed to canvas. I have setup a feature which allows customers to upload their photos and a reference number is generated to help us identify that customers photo. This is stored in a session variable, and a preview of their photo appears on the canvas product pages.

 

My next task is how to figure out how to add that reference to the product description in the cart contents, that way if they order multiple prints with different photos we can tell which one goes with what size etc.

 

So, basically i need to figure out how to make it so when a customer adds a size canvas to their basket it adds it as "Size 1 - Photo Ref: 12345" for example. THen if they upload another photo and pick a different size it will show both items in their cart as:

 

"Size 1 - Photo Ref: 12345"

"Size 2 - Photo Ref: 12346"

 

 

Hope that makes sense, I know its a rough way of doing things but it should do for now at least, if i could just figure out amending the cart deatails.
