Oscommerce default page?

Hi,

Im just curious does oscommerce have a default or standard page? Im asking this becuase I bought this template from http://www.templatemonster.com at http://www.templatemonster.com/oscommerce-...ates/10173.html. I believe it is compatible with this software and it has oscommerce 2.2 built in.

I installed the template and this is what showed up instead of the original template above: http://www.erbanfootwear.com

My question is simply, is this the default page for oscommerce web pages? And if so, is it possible to take any template from any website that is oscommerce compatible or in other words have it built in like templatemonster and build from the default page listed above?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Tim

Hi,

And thanks for the quick response Chipshot!

Im sorry I have made an error of explaining on my part. Basically the page at http://erbanfootwear.com . Is this a default or standard oscommerce page? And further more, if it is not then. 2. Is it possible to put another template on top of the already existing template to further change the layout completely?

Secondly, How do I customize the page? Things such as changing the background color and adding a review section or adding a "Proceed to checkout" from paypal without logging in.

Thanks again Chipshot,

Tim

Yes the products listed come with osCommerce, put in your own products and images. and delete theirs

Thanks Chipshot!

I find this very helpful as I am new. To be honest I never planed to use oscomerce but rather to have a website based with 100% flash. It just so happen I am money pressed..and my wallet had to decide for me haha. Ill check this link out in a few minutes.

Yes, I know this is silly. I run a footwear business for name brand shoes such as jordans, air force ones, Timberlands, pumas, addidas, and basically all the big name brands you could possibly find with clothing included. Shoes start at just $39 plus shipping. Im looking forward to transferring my business from offline to online.

I ran into a problem when I went to templatemonster at http://osc.template-help.com/10173/index.php to grab the template for a footwear layout and when I installed it this is what showed up http://www.erbafootwear.com instead. It made me question as to if this was the default template for a oscommerce website and if so would it be possible to just take any template that has oscommerce and place it over the existing template to get the footwear style needed.

I want to thank you again for taking the time to help me Chipshot. And I look forward to your reply.

Best,

Tim

http://erbanfootwear.com/index.php is your Home Page. Template Monster must have set that up for you .

As for design follow this thread

But I have a silly question, erbanfootwear, you sell shoes I assume. Why would you get a template that's computer based?

well I would get a hold of Template Monster ASAP I believe they should correct the situation and send you the template you were looking for in the first place...

True and I cant argue with that for sure. I have called them and they assure me I will get the proper template in just a few days. However, this made me think alot about the beginnings of oscommerce.

Lets say for example, I got oscommerce from this website. Will their be a pre-installed or foundation of a web page to begin with? I believe oscommerce begins everyone with a default webpage and its for the people to further develop and manipulate the coding and graphical interface to obtain their needs. Is this correct? I believe this may be the reason why another page comes up and not the page I originally purchased. I could be very very wrong and I come to get some answers.

Furhermore, If this is true would I be able to 'slap' on another purchased template that is oscommerce driven to make it change to that attribute?

Finally, if anything what I said is true, would it then be possible to just use purchased oscommerce web pages to change the 'default layout' and then if further customization is required then proceed to altering php, css, html. and etc codes?

Thanks so much,

Tim

yes OSC gives you a default page (looks nothing like what you got from TempMon.) But that's what you payed for a pre designed template..

the php code from osc should be what anyone would get from osc, If tempMonster included any mods to the shopping cart I wouldn't know. I really don't think they would.

the reason why another page comes up and not the page I originally purchased. Is simply because they sent you the wrong Template. Here is what osc looks like out of the box with no design changes: http://demo.oscommerce.com/

Yes and you don't have to pay for it that's the beauty of Open source you can get download it here: http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions/downloads and do what ever you want to it to suit your needs..

I hope this clears things up for you a little bit
