UPS Choice 1.3

When trying to use the upschoice 1.3 mod, i get this on the delevery information page..

 

We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping.

Please contact the store if no other alternative is shown.

 

Did i do something wrong durring install?

we had same problem in the UPS module.

 

if you entered a us address + extended zip code (ie 33400-1234)

(same for your zip code entered in config of shipping module

 

the pricing engined reported an error

 

by sending only the first 5 digits of the zip code to the ups pricing engine it worked fine.

 

check if in your zip code , there are characters which would not be accepted

by the pricing engine like - , / .....

You are correct that the UPS cgi does not like ZIP codes > 5 characters.

But the part of the code I didn't write in ups.php checks for it and supposedly truncates to 5 characters at line 145 of the contribution version 1.3.

 

On my site I have added edits and error messages for that at their entry.

 

We are not satisfied with the UPS rate cgi, but that is the subject of other threads. Among other known deficiencies, it returns no overseas quotes from US origins, and UPS disclaims any use of this deprecated online resource. The contribution's scope is merely to provide shop control over which UPS service types are permitted choices -- if UPS does not return quotes for those services, we can't do anything about it ... but implement the alternative XML module.
