Right now the large image 180w and 400height looks great but the thumbnail at 90width and 200 height gets compacted and it looks like it was squeezed to that size. Is there a way to make all images in the store crisp? Ultimately I have a store with 3 image sizes. Thank you in advance.
Velveeta Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 The reason it looks like it was squeezed to that size is because it was :) Default oscommerce behavior loads the full-sized image for all of the thumbnails, but sized in the layout to whatever proportions you have specified in the admin console, so it squeezes them down to that size... What you want is to either make your own thumbnails for each product, or install an on the fly thumbnail (of which there are several contributions on that section of this site) to automatically generate a thumbnail from the full sized image, resample it (which will clear up some of the pixelation caused by that squeezing process) and then cache it on the disk if you so choose, so it only has to render that once, and then just load the thumbnail from the disk from that point on... What I was looking for was a link to a contrib that has proven to be easy to install and to do the job. There are quite a few of them and I didn't want to pick the wrong one and go through the trouble of installing it. If there is a default one that the majority is using please pass along the link.
