Change products_name & categories_name ? help please

Could it possible to change products_name length in the database to 240chars and categories_name length to 180chars

without causing any problem??

I'm kinda new, but I doubt there would be a problem with it. Try it! Back up your DB first, since putting it back could truncate any field lengths you would have to reset.

Alternatively, if it does cause problems, you could put additional details in the product description.

Yes , I should backup the database and do that, If there will be any problems I could restore..

Did you ever get this to work?

 

I've changed products_name from varchar64 to varchar255 , yet it does not save or display more than 64 characters.
