I want the Number of items in a catagory to show...

I got a site template from someone and he modified the backend and such but I want the number of items in a catagory and sub-catagory to show. For instance right now my main catagories are eBooks, Software, and such but I want them to look like eBooks>287, Software>34 ETC.... How do I accomplish this?

osCommerce admin --> Configuration --> set "Show Category Counts" to 'true'
