paypal orders not going to database

when someone places an order and pays through paypal the order info only goes to the database when the customer clicks on the return to merchant button, is there anyway to change this?

I installed Paypal IPN - It works like a charm for me.

Also on the Paypal site in your Website Payment Preferences, I set auto return to "On"

Then when the transaction is complete, it will return you to your site.
