Product Info filmstrip navigation

I have seen this on other live sites but can not find it anywhere on the forums or contributions.

 

 

on the product info page i want a filmstrip on the page that is pictures of the other products that scrolls and you can click on the image to goto that product info page.

 

so it would work almost like a "next, previous" navigation area but include the product image as well. I know it will probably me some sort of java script but i don't know where to start.
