Problem with product attributes

Currently having a problem as follows with adding product attributes.

 

When I add more than 4 option values to an option name a second drop down list is displayed on the product page in my store. More than 8 options gives me 3 drop down lists (all with the same options) and so on.

 

The only new mod that I have tried to install was Fancy Lightbox, however I reverted to my back up product info.php when this did not work for me.
