Hey, I'm about to decide whether to use OS or not but my processor only takes phone orders. So i need to capture my orders offline, credit card orders. Does OS do that, like provide an order number and allow me to capture the info for offline CC orders?

add this module and I think you should be good to go. Have a look first and see if it is what you need

Ok thanks, but as is, OSCOMMERCE doesn't do offline CC orders? Like I need to capture the order, and provide the customer with an order number, then I need to go through the data and manually phone in the orders to my processor.

That means you need to store cc information on your server which really leaves you wide open. I'd look at getting a processor that can handle this for you via internet.

default osCommerce does exactzly that in its credit card module. It even offers splitting the cc number, so not the whole number is stored in the database.

I agree with cmjennings21, I wouldn't go anywhere near storing CC details - find a clearance provider who can give you real-time internet processing. Otherwise you leave yourself wide open under the Data Protection legislation. Also, you are not permitted to store the CVS code, so you still wouldn't be able to process the payments anyway.

This info is not correct, you can process CC without the CVV number - this depends on where and how you are processing. In any case, discuss your options with your lawyer. The functionality for the simple pocessing is there, to do manual charging (which a lot of my clients are doing, especially those where prices change AFTER an order was placed), but still in the end you may want to decide to use a complete online system like authorizenet.

Perhaps they're not so security concious in other countries but here, it is impossible to process payments without the CVS code (the card machine simply refuses to carry out the transaction - as of April 2007) and the companies expressly forbid the storing/recording of the CVS code:

" The ‘Card Security Code’ on the card,

which is the last three or four numbers

in the signature strip. NOTE this

number must only be used for the

transaction being undertaken and not

stored/recorded for future use."
