Sending e-mail through Google Apps smtp server (smtp.gmail.com)

I tried to use my own mail server to send mail from oscommerce, but when I tried to send mail to hotmail addresses, the hotmail mail server denied it and gave a message stating somthing about his own policies.

 

So I turned to another option. Use the smtp server of my google apps domain (smtp.gmail.com), but it requires authentication.

 

I tried several contribs from here and none could e-mail a thing through that server. After some debugging, I discovered that the Google Apps mail server expects a STARTTLS command which all the contribs appear not to send.

 

Anyone here knows any contribution that allows us to send mail through smtp.gmail.com (using that STARTTLS to initiate mail transmission)?
