Website moved over to new server now no products

I moved my website to a new server and now all the prducts have dissapeared, does anyone know how I can fix this?

did you backup and dump the database to your new server?

I backed up the old server database, uploaded this to the new server with ftp and restored the old database onto the new server

Yeh I backed up through admin on old and new server

there are no products at all in admin but the categories have staid

This is a problem with backing up/restoring sql database through admin. I made a backup of the old databse just now with compression, logged into phpMyAdmin on the new server and restored the backup this way and the porducts have now appeared. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to backup and restore databases? Whats the most secure method?

the way you did it by using phpmyadmin

 

I have no faith in the backup tool it never worked for me
