Change layout of main page - how to please?

Hello again.

 

I need some help in changing layout of main entry page to oscommerce.

 

I simply want to put the boxes from the left column (categories, manufacters, quick search, etc) into the main content area, centre column of main page.

 

I have tried several things but each time it breaks oscommerce.

 

Any ideas out there?

 

Serious appreciation for any help at all.

 

I am totally lost here now.
