Catagory Images on Index Page

I'm sure there is probably an easy way to do this but I've searched the forums and couldn't find my answer.

 

What I'd like to do is show the images of my catagories (10 total) in the body of my index page as opposed to having them in the catagories box. Then it would ack just like link in the catagory box and would take the user to that catagories products page when clicked on.

 

Does anyone know how this is done in OSc??

I used this in my header by my logo. I had it on my index page at one time. It isn't exacly what your looking for, but it may help.

Thanks OldSchool - you're right, this isn't exactly what I was looking for but these look like some pretty cool contributions that have given me some good ideas!
