cURL and PHP-openssl red checks during install

I run my own web server (on Linux) but I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Apache is compiled, on my server, with openssl support but - apparently - php is not and I do not have cURL installed. This may be an utterly brain-dead question but how does this affect the functionality of this program? I have a secure virtual host on my server (secure.ewarecomputers.com) for which I have created certificates, etc. I tried doing "make-clean" and adding --with-ssl for Php and I still get the same error.

 

Anyone using this that's running thier own server?
