Better system for Gift Certificates?

Maybe I just don't understand the built in gift voucher system.....but is there a better, easier to understand gift CERTIFICATE system?

 

I want someone to be able to purchase a gift certificate online and when they pay, they will get a code that they can use or give to someone to use. Or, we (the store owner) can generate a code and give it to someone to use.

 

When the person with the code checks out, it will deduct the total bill from their gift certificate number. If there is anything left over on their gift certificate, it will let them know the balance in their control panel. Or, if they purchase an item for $80 and their gift certificate was for $50....their new total balance would be $30 and they could checkout with a credit card or paypal.

 

Make sense? The current voucher system may do this....but it seems too confusing.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I've just installed a contrib that seems to do what you're asking. Check out the add on by xramadon, called Online Gift Card.

 

I haven't tried it live, but everything seems to be good so far.

I actually use creloaded, so it must be included in it and not OSC
