NewBudda Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I am new to this but have made a successful installation with a few modifications (www.wurmwelten.de/os1/). I find this framework really interesting, there is still one thing that I just dont get. How Do I add a "Blank" page? I know a lot of html but as of yet hardlly any php. So I would like to add some html pages with additional info about the prodcuts and maybe a FAQ. How do I accomplish these new pages manually or even better with an editor like the one Wordpress or even this forum has. I have tried to install FCKeditor but only get a funny error message... I am sure I am not the first one who wants to add non-product pages, but except for FCKeditor I was unable to find a contribution. Have you accomplished this and how? I have PHP 4.4, MySQL and apache with OS Merchant 2.2rc1 PS: How can I change the button for the newsletter at the bootom right? The linked graphic is there, its just not displayed... Thank you in advance for any help! Quote Open Source Newsletter: PhPList Open Source Questionnaire: Lime Survey

Thank you in advance for any help! The Knowledge Base has some tips on how to add new pages. I would look there. Also, if you have a good solid knowledge of HTML but not PHP, I would strongly suggest the Simple Template System v4.5.8. STS will allow you to add new pages with ease as well as design the existing osC pages any way you desire using HTML. NewBudda Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 I have tried STS but couldnt install it :( I am happy to learn more php so I did not try that hard. I just dont want to spent 4 hours installing something only to get html out of it. I rather spent that time installing an editor which will make it easier to add text in the future... Is there an alternative to FCKeditor that anyone has actually installed? I cant get support for FCKedit... Quote Open Source Newsletter: PhPList Open Source Questionnaire: Lime Survey

The Simple Template System takes 5 minutes tops to install and definitely gives you more than just html (not really sure what you meant by that). STS allows you to use all of the osC functions anywhere you want them giving you complete control over the design of osC. TinyMCE would ge a great addon if you are wanting to go that route. NewBudda Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 Ok i will STS another shot. Still, that has not answered my original question: Is there a contribution or editor which lets me add a new, non-product page? Quote Open Source Newsletter: PhPList Open Source Questionnaire: Lime Survey
NewBudda Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 Could I not just add a define('TEXT_MAIN' and make it define('TEXT_MAIN_NEWTEXT' in the index.php and then create a file where I call text_main_new instead of just main. Does that make sense? Quote Open Source Newsletter: PhPList Open Source Questionnaire: Lime Survey
bkellum Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 (edited) Ok i will STS another shot. Still, that has not answered my original question:Is there a contribution or editor which lets me add a new, non-product page? Hello Philip, I'm not trying to push STS on you. I could really care less if you use it or not. I know it will make life easy for you regarding adding a new page but that is just my two cents. For a non-sts solution, you could try the following contributions: Extra Pages Info Box http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2021 And one of my personal favorites: Page Editor with Admin http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2841 Also, take a look at the following Knowledge Base tutorial on adding new pages to your shop: http://oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/Catalog_Area/Boxes/49 Hope this helped you out, Edited November 11, 2007 by bkellum Quote Bill Kellum Sounds Good Productions STS Tutorials & more: STSv4.6, STS Add-ons (STS Power Pack), STS V4 Forum STS Forum FREE TEMPLATE

I have a client who wants to use osCommerce as a CMS as well as a shop all in one and i had figured that there may be a way to achieve this if i was to re-code the Page Editor with Admin module to that it utilised categories and subcategories how hard do you think it would be to incorporate it with STS so that specific category and sub category pages could work? my idea was to leave the product info pages in place but allow creation and editing of pages for each category and subcategory i dont know if thats going a bit skewwiff in the whole scheme of things or not but want to get an idea of what people think or if theres an easier way of doing it, short of manually creating pages and ising sts templates for them....
