Orders/inventory/shipping question

Hello all !

 

I'm a new Oscommerce user.

I find it to be more complex than I thought it was. I suppose this is to provide flexibility, but it's quite a bit of file interaction for the unintiated !

 

Is there a flow chart somewhere, that will help me navigate to things I want to modify?

 

Also, I don's understand how the "backend" order, inventory and shipping is supposed to work.

At present, it looks like I will have to write my own queries to get a list of daily orders and a processing module that will confirm payment, stock and shipping statuses in a a browseable format.

 

All the default seems to do is call up one customer order at a time with a default "invoice".

I'm not sure how it's supposed to work form there...

Am I missing something ...or is this it?

I don't see how this works for a volume business.

 

I would appreciate it if someone could give me some specifics.
