New Main page instead of index

I am wondering how this is possible to have a main page ppl see first before goin to the index page of your store. I am VERY new to the website stuff and I am sorry if it's already listed but I have looked and haven't been able to find what I am looking for. I have a website that I go to from time to time that has what I want.

I hope someone can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I figured out my prob on my own. If you make a index.html page and insert it in your public_html it overrides the index.php then you can just link your shoppe to your index.php
