Guest Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hello there. When one edits a product in osc admin and clicks on `out-of-stock', the product does not get shown in the catalog that the client sees. Is it possible to still show the product to the client, but display the words `Currently out-of-stock.' Thanks for your time.
jhande Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hey Philip, Get yourself this contribution - Show Sold Out Items v1.1 by sabaina 15 Feb 2007 You can see it - here. I made a simple Sold Out button. But you can make whatever image you want. - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
Guest Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Thanks for the tip. I've installed the contrib and it seems to be working. I have a quick question. Products that are listed in the admin as `in-stock' but show a quantity of 0 in the product description - show up to the client as `out-of-stock'. Now I must edit each product desc. to show a quantity so that it shows up to the client as `buy now' - is there a way around this to save editing time? BTW : What does the quantity in product desc. actually refer to - individual products or weight? As far as I know it refers to individual products/items. Thanks again.

Yes the quantity in product description refers to stock on hand so to speak. Unfortunately you will have to add a quantity amount in each product description. But you would have to do that again once you sold and re-ordered your items anyway. Marking them In Stock or Out of Stock is useful if you take online orders and then order from your distributor. Add a high product quantity and when your distributors stock list shows the item on back-order, quickly tag yours as Out of Stock without having to change the stock quantity. Hope that made sense? - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
