clubsguide Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hi guys/girls, I have built my very first shop for a client and have found that I have hit a major snag. When the shop was first set up and I was ordering products I was receiving an email as the customer notifying me that my order had been made and where i could review my receipt. The only problem is somewhere along the line this stopped happening. I am unsure how this may have happened as I have not made any major changes to the application and I definately havent made any changes that I know of to the ordering process files. Has anyone else had this problem before? The shop admin is still receiving emails confirming that orders have been placed, it is just the emails to customers confirming that they have made an order which arent. Quite strange and very frustrating to be honest. Any help would be great. Cheers, Shannon

I own the server and I am running 3 websites on the server all which send emails via PHP based API's like oscommerce does. None of these websites have had any problems sending emails as of late and the fact that Oscommerce is delivering confirmation of orders to me when orders are placed but not to the customer means that the email function must be working but just not sending to customer for some reason. i have checked all the settings and they seem to be ok, i am unsure of what might be causing this. this is why i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before.

I have a similar problem when people order something, go to the PayPal page, make their payment then forget to hit the "Return To Website" button, which seems to have the effect of dumping the order process. I get an e-mail then from PayPal saying someone has paid me, but I don't know what for, and it's costing me a fortune in phone calls to ring them to find out.

You could try the pending order email contribution and use paypal ipn.
