Help with SSL setup

I have a new site installed and it seems to work very slow. Here are some details about the site:

site: www.pupular.com

ssl enabled

Server: Telus Hosting

Sessions are saved to the database

currently the entire catalog is run under the secured directory and this is causing it to run really slow.

Telus's ssl setup requires a separate directory with a second copy of the site in the secure directory - this is a quote from another post of somebody that has alrady set this up.

I am trying to get this multipule dir setup to work and am not sure what the setup should be.

what would the setup have to be in the catalog and admin configuration.php for the two directories?

would I have to have a copy of all product images in both directories or just in the unsecured dir?

any help would be greatly appriciated as this is getting frustrating for me.

Can't speak specifically for you, but I run two almost identical directory structures. One is in the public folder and the other is in the SSL folder which is pretty well what you were suspecting. Many others run things the same way.

There are other better ways to do it, but over time you will learn it is just awesome to simply have your site running and then refine it.

Just duplicate your folder/directory structures as like you thought and then you can adjust your config files as you need to get things pointing in the right directions.

It is a steep learning curve but well worth the effort and the support/info in this forum is excellent.

Enjoy the journey!
