Navigation problem

Is there a way to split up the categorie box in top category and seperate their sub-categories?

 

Example:

 

Top category navigation (on top of page)

- Women

- Men

- Shoes

- Accessoires

 

Sub categories navigation (on the left side of the page)

Women

-- Dresses

-- Jeans

-- etc etc

 

So when the user click on Women on the top navigation, only the subcategories of Women may appear. Is there a way to do this?

 

I was thinking about changing the catogorie box in classes in if > else statements.

Just make a category e.x Men.

 

Enter category Men

When ur in there, just choose new category agai and enter like underwear.

That way Men will be the main category, and underwear a sub category
