Adding inventory Count to Product Attributes

I just set up a couple products (shoes) in my catalog which have sizes 3-9. I am trying to figure out how to add an inventory count to each attribute so I don't sell shoes that aren't available. For instance, size 3 may have 6 pairs, size 5 may have 4 pairs, size 3 may have 10 pairs available all for the same style shoe. The total inventory might be 20 shoes, but I need to set each size to have a certain number so that the inventory is counted correctly.

 

Does anyone know how I go about setting that so that my inventory comes out right? I see where you add the inventory to the main product section for each shoe style, but I can't find where you add it to the individual attributes for sizes.

 

I looked in the knowledge base and didn't find anything.

I'm having the same problem with pants and hoodies I'm selling.

Any chance you've figured out how to make it work - I haven't had an luck finding an answer within the forums.
