Guest Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Where do I go to acces the in catalog/includes/configure.php to enable SSL? I am obviously not skilled at writing code and I cannot for the life of me find this directory.
germ Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 If you installed in the root folder of your site, there may not be a "catalog" folder. The path might be /includes/configure.php And, just in case you don't know, I wouldn't edit it with the osC File Manager. It has problems that will mess you up sometimes. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. joannemojo Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 So when you enable SSL do you need to install a 2nd version of the site on https? I enabled it and when I tried to log into my site I got a 404 error from my host. I don't understand SSL's. Do you have to purchase them to use them?
germ Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 So when you enable SSL do you need to install a 2nd version of the site on https? That can be true depending on your setup, so I've heard. Ask your Web Host. Do you have to purchase them to use them? Many hosts have "shared" SSL's you can use free of charge. joannemojo Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Thanks Jim. When I enabled it and went to my account section (on the store) it was https. I then got a warning box saying that the SSL was through my host. I clicked ok and then got error404 (host 404 not my site one) instead of my account page. Would it be something I'd need my host to sort out?
germ Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Unless you've purchased and installed a dedicated SSL certificate, you should ask your Host what the correct URL for you should be to use their shared SSL. When you know what it is, you can modify your configure files accordingly. ;) If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
