Guest Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Hello, I have just opened a new online store called www.weddingsandgiftsdirect.com and I have had a close to 300 visitor so far but only 5 sales. If anyone would like to take a look at this and let me know what your general thoughts are I would appreciate it. You can email me here or at [email protected] . Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks, Susan R. www.weddingsandgiftsdirect.com
digilee Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Standard install with changed colours and a logo (is there not an acronym for this as it's used so many times!) Why does your shop not look like your front page/ rest of site? You haven't edited any of the main content. 2/10 for effort. SolarFrenzy Solar powered gadgets at down to earth prices. ♥14steve14 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Where to begin. There is lots wrong with your store in my opinion. Try to make your store match your opening page. Try to insert the two header graphics into your store header. That way it will look consistant. Change the buttons from the blue to a nice pink colour. there are lots available or do a google search to find some more. There are even sites that will allow you to design your own. Remove all the silly cartoon like images from all the pages or replace them with some of your own. All of your information pages are empty. You only appear to have one currency and language, so remove the option boxes from your right column. Make some of your box headings links so that someone can click them and be taken to the relevant page. Remove the count from your categories box. Add more information to your product pages. Add some form of SOE to attract more sales and searches. I am going to stop here as i may depress you by going on. Dont bee offended by my remarks, and take them as they are intended. They are my opinions on your site. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
jbastow Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 On the main page, the link to "Home" is broken. You've misspelt your own company name in the title of the pages "Wedings and Gifts Direct". When I tried to checkout, I was notified that your site is certified by an unknown authority, and was advised by the message to not continue on with the transaction. The page was also slow to load, as all of your images are large but resized by the browser, and you're missing descriptions/images for some of your products. Keep working, and check the rest of this forum for tips on how to fix these (and the above) issues.
spax Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Way too pink! It looks more like a Barbie site than one for weddings. You have removed the constant define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup.......'); from oscommerce/includes/languages/english/index.php. Put it back but leave it blank as you may need it one day. It will remove TEXT_MAIN from the page. define('TEXT_MAIN', ''); Being "stock" looking isn't the crime of the century, it's really only us here who notice. However, you are up against some very professional looking sites so you would be advised to have something that looks the part.
Andrew Yuen Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Starting with your header, the weddings and gifts direct box needs to be replaced. Your header is pixilated and I recommend a logo. Next, I would change all the logos away from the default osCommerce logo. After that I would define TEXT_MAIN on the main text. I would then remove the -> and product count from the categories infobox. After that I would fix the search icon in the search infobox. I would then remove both the language and currency infobox. Finally, I would remove the visitor counter in the footer. As for the design it is default osCommerce with just a color change. Andrew Yuen osCommerce, Community Team
