First of all, I'm new to osCommerce, and php. But I've owned & operated a retail store for 33 years, plus several other businesses.

 

One major area of OSC that I would really like to see expanded is Product Admin.

 

Merchandise (inventory, products) is the core of any business, yet there are no sub-forums for Products, or Admin. That seems odd to me, from a business owner's (not a programmer) viewpoint.

 

Anyway, we just installed Product Inventory Editor. It is a big improvement, but does not go far enough.

 

For instance, there was a contribution on the PIE page that added an editable Price field.

 

Can someone suggest how that editing capability could be extended to the Name field, and Model # fields?

 

 

Also, how can I globally change every reference on the site from MODEL# to ITEM#? In the retail trades that I've worked in, ITEM# is the standard, sometimes used interchangeably with SKU#. (Stock Keeping Unit) The term Model# is commonly just a secondary designation, not the primary # used to track items.

 

BTW, it is amazing to see the amount of activity and development here, by users of OSC. Thanks to all for the hard work and assistance!

Most titles can be changed by editing the files in the languages sub directory.

 

Have a dig aroung and it should become clear.

 

(take a backup because you can break your site big time)
