Limiting Drop Down Menu Lengths

I am having trouble with the length of a drop down menu.

If you select "Buick" as the 'Make' -- the length of the 'Model' drop down menu becomes so long that it pushes the right hand column off of the page. I've played a bit in the administration section with the settings for Maximum lengths but could not find one that limited this.

 

Does anyone have a suggestion other than modifying the database?

Its doing it bacuase it is autofitting the below text, you need to have each one as an option not all in a line
