Catalog Adminstration Exceptionally Slow

Hello folks. For some reason the adminstration side of my catalog is very slow to load. Moving through the categories or making edits takes at least one to two minutes just load the page. Any other part of my admin works just fine with normal loads but any changes I try to make to my catalog contents just takes forever.

 

Does anyone have any ideas why this could be? It reallly makes changing my sites contents a huge, time consuming pita when it takes five minutes to move through three sub categories.

Had you made any changes when this started to happen?

 

It does sound like it could be a hosting related issue, so I would consider logging a call with them.

If you mean as far as contributions, no. I continually add to my catalog as my line of products continues to grow but that's it.

 

Also, it only affects the catalog portion of the backend. If I click on any other menu in the backend of the site it works just fine and loads at normal times. Orders, tools, customers, etc, all work fine. But working insie the "catalog" menu is incredibly slow.

 

Could you explain how it might be a hosting problem so that I can go to my host and have some idea of what I am talking about? I really don't see how hosting can affect something so specific when other parts are unfazed, but I'll try anything at this point. It takes ten minutes to add a single product.

And it has sped up the loading time of the catalog admin area, but it's still on the slow side. Is there anything further I can do to speed it up? I can certainly tolerate the new load times, but I still wish they would be better.

Your admin category page load time depends on a few things.

 

Your connection.

The amount of items that have to load.

Database query time.

 

The database query time is something you need to investigate with your host. My host just implemented a program that speeds up the process but warned everyone that it's not compatable with all versions or PHP, PEARL, etc... So if anyone experienced problems or slower load times to just de-activate it in their CPanel.
