dogtails Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Hi, I am trying to recreate a new log that is more versatile. I need to know if there is an average size for osc or how do I know how big to make it. The one I have right now is just to big and I don't want to use a picture. This is my page Click here!
Gauravs Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 You are currently using a logo 667 px x 198 px There is nothing predefined for a logo, some folks prefer a height of 80px while i have seen some stores with 700x250px logos. So Debra, entirely upto you to identify how you want your store to look like and accordingly get a logo. When using photoshop, you can explore how to place logo, and what dimensions are required. HTH Best Regards,Gaurav
web-project Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 or you can edit the header.php and insert your logo size. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
ksteed Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I don't know what browser you are using. But if you're in Firefox you should download the "WebDev" toolbar. This will help you work on live webpages. You can view CSS (and do some editing, but just on your local machine, nothing permanent) and you can view the source of all images. It's really a MUST for anyone doing web development, design. Even within osCommerce it will prove helpful. Anyways, your logo looks good, keep working at it. And you can take this with a grain of salt, but I would consider losing the "Splash/Intro" page. In the opinion of myself, and Jakob Nielsen and Hoa Loranger (authors of Prioritizing Web Usability), the "splash" page is a thing of the past on the web. Nowadays you want your customer to see what you have to offer the moment they reach your website. You have only a few seconds to grab someones attention on the internet today before you can lose them forever. Just something to think about. -Kyle Steed Visit My Website Kyle Steed -staying creative since 1982-

I appreciate all the comments. I was told my picture was too big. I'm waiting for more opinions first before i change it again. If i shrink it much more the dog won't have a face :( and the words can't be read. However, I will explore eliminating the intro page. Any idea how to get rid of the arrows in the menu.

Hi Dogtails, I like the banner, but you may wish to switch to gif. The jpg is blurry in spots. Sometimes gif can do a better job on monochrome photos like yours... and still keep a small file size. Also, your home button (in bread crumbs) is taking you to a dead end. If you find you are unable to get rid of the splash page (or choose not to), make sure you at least make the 'Enter our Site' link reload on the same page. And add a title to your splash page as well. Good Luck

Thanks for the tips.
