Annual Membership

I've been looking at topics that mention "membership", but I haven't found anything like what I need.

 

The store sells books and music.

But this is also an association that collects dues (membership fees).

 

The fees are $35 per year, $60 for couples.

They can buy 1 to 3 years at a time.

 

Questions:

Any easy way to set up the fees in the existing product structure?

Can I get a form to pop up to collect other attributes that are normally collected with the paper membership application form?

(Name and address I already have, obviously. But what about spouse name, education level, etc.)

Can a membership number be assigned by the store?

 

Lots of questions, I know. Just fishing for some advice.

In addition to selling products (media, books, etc) to the world wide family history community, our Society wishes to memberships, and to have the option for membership's annual renewals. (We have membership data online already in mysql db.

 

Other need is to accept research enquiries on proforma forms

 

As a newbie with some mysql/php knowlege, I need to know if the osCommerce package is likely to meet our needs (without me needing a brain transplant.

To clarify requirement:-

 

My Society is hoping to sell various family history 'products' to public world wide. One of these products would be 'membership of our society', another would be 'Renew membership'. In the first case on completion of the sale the customer would be sent introductory email assigning next available membership (obtained from our existing on-line mysql database). In second case (renewal) the customer would quote membership number (or I guess login and confirm that a saved membership number was correct).

 

We do not want to automatically enroll every customer into the Society.

 

So the question remains .... Could current version of osCommerce be tweaked to add this membership facility, and at what cost to my brain-cells?

I'm looking for something similar as well. I'm working on a website for a national sports organization. In addition to selling product, we sell membership in the organization (which has nothing to do with the website). Is there a way to have them select a membership type and then it goes to a form they fill out and the cost is added to the shopping cart?

 

Appears I'm not the only one with this problem. :sweating:
