Problem with product weight

For some reason whenever I add a new product and I set the weight to anything less than 5, it will automatically show up in the ordering process as if the product weighs 4 lbs. For example, if I add a product that weighs 7 lbs. it displays the correct weight and gives the shipping price for a product that weighs 4 lbs. However, if i add a product that weighs 2 lbs. when the customer goes to place the order, it shows that the product weighs 4 lbs. and it sets the shipping charges as if the products weighed 4 lbs. instead of 2.

 

Is there somewhere in the admin section that assigns as minimum weight? Has anyone had this problem before? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Configuration>shipping = make sure the tare weight is set to zero.

In admin go to configuration shipping/packaging and set the tare weight to whatever your packaging is.

 

Has anyone had this problem before? Only those that have done what is suggested above.
