General Help - Permissions/Access

Hi. Okay, so here's the deal. I'm starting in the middle of where someone else left off. I've never used osC before. I've figured out how to get on and make simple changes in the catalog section. But when I try to upload new images in the admin folder I get the permissions error. I did some searching and see that everyone says to change the permissions, but I don't know where to go to do that. I tried connect dreamweaverMX to the site, but can't get that to work. I looked in the documentations, but still need some help.

If you use any tool for ftp - that would be required to change permissions on folders / files. If you have host control panel, you would find a file manager (and I am not referring to OSC admin File Manager)

The permissions are Read Write Execute that need to be set appropriately as recommended in different posts that you have searched.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick explanation. But since you were able to help me with that, could you explain what I use for the hostname, when I use my FTP program? Do I use the url or url.com/admin? Or should I be using the IP address?
